About

A Puget Sound area native, Marlyn’s began her legal career as a King County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the criminal division, then transitioned to the private sector in 1999, where she practiced general civil litigation focused on real property issues.  Since 2002, Marlyn has represented community associations almost exclusively, first as a construction defect litigator, and then as general counsel.

Having extensive trial and appellate court experience, Marlyn is able to provide our clients with keen insight into how judges and juries tend to react to certain actions, which means she can provide realistic risk assessments relating to a client’s chosen action.

Marlyn provides a full range of general counsel services, including everything from completely rewriting governing documents and assisting with complex remediation, loan, and special assessment projects, to prosecution of enforcement actions and general governance advice.

Marlyn is a frequent contributor to efforts to improve the laws affecting homeowners through work with the Washington legislature and served on the industry committee that studied and revised the Uniform Common Interest Ownership Act for adoption by Washington State.

A child of two educators, Marlyn is dedicated to the education of homeowners, directors, and community managers for the overall improvement of the industry and quality of life.  She is a frequent contributor of articles and presentations both directly and through the industry groups that focus on education relating to community living.

Out of the office, Marlyn enjoys traveling, dancing, not having to drive her kids everywhere anymore, and silversmithing.
